As noted by the 2023 UN Report on leveraging administrative data on trafficking in persons, there is currently an acute lack of quality evidence and research available, primarily due to the lack of data available to researchers and policymakers.
Fortunately, many agencies in Florida are already collecting human trafficking data as part of their everyday operations, and the USF TIP Lab is working to unify this data through the statewide repository. This unified database will provide key insights into community needs and support efforts to combat human trafficking.
How Your Data Can Make a Difference
In May 2023, Governor DeSantis signed SB 7064, which authorizes the USF TIP Lab to create the Statewide Repository for Anonymous Human Trafficking Data and mandates that state agencies share human trafficking incidence data with the USF TIP Lab.
The TIP Lab is consistently conducting outreach efforts and working to include all human trafficking serving organizations throughout Florida in the unified statewide database.
